It’s news to none that LIV Golfer always finds it difficult to play at the Majors and it’s no different for Jon Rahm as well. Now the majors are over and some golfers are already targeting the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York. As the race continues, Rahm’s chances are looking slim as per the latest revelation from him.
Rahm has played the Ryder Cup three times in the years 2018, 2021, and 2023. As for the 2025 edition of the tournament, the golfer was excited and said “It’s something so special, It’s going to be a lot of fun. It’s going to be absolutely incredible. And hopefully, I can be a part of the team,” as revealed on the New York Post. However, the way things are, it’s highly unlikely he will be able to play at the 2025 Ryder Cup. As per new rules from the European tour, the golfers will have to win and earn points to confirm a spot.
Before claiming the title at the LIV Golf UK at JCB Golf & Country Club, the golfer hadn’t won any tournament this year. He did play at three majors out of four but was unable to deliver ideal performances. The golfer talked about his Ryder Cup appearance and performances throughout the year saying, “I don’t think the adjustment was that bad or that long,” Rahm explained. “I think it was more about just me not playing my best. I’m never going to blame the outside environment. You can maybe make that excuse for one or two weeks, but not for the entire first half of the season, right? So it was absolutely 100 percent me for the most part,” said the 29-year-old.

Yes, it’s true that the Spaniard is maintaining his DP World Tour membership while paying fines, but it’s not enough to grant him a spot. Since only wins can help him earn points, they might also increase his chances of being selected by the Ryder Cup captains. While the golfer is aware of his performances and unsure about the Captain’s pick, his chances aren’t certainly over.

How can Jon Rahm still qualify for the Ryder Cup?
The 29-year-old played all the majors except the US Open this year. However, he was unable to deliver ideal performances. While the majors are complete the DP World Tour has nine events left. It doesn’t mean he has nine chances but seven instead. The Spaniard isn’t playing at the British Masters and can’t play at the Amgen Irish Open or the BMW PGA Championships.

Aside from that there are only seven tournaments left for him to participate. Although the golfer didn’t specify whether he will play at these events, there are chances we might see him on the field of the Spanish Open in Madrid this September. If he competes, the golfer will need to push himself to the limit to win the tournaments, which could increase his chances of qualifying for the 2025 Ryder Cup.
