Jon Rahm has been the World No. 1 since last July. Most of his performances have been praise-worthy, often resulting in a top finish during an event. However, looking at his play during the Arnold Palmer Invitational’s opening round, it’s clear that any PGA Tour icon can make the simplest of errors.

Rahm ended up missing a 10-inch putt at the par-3 seventh, which was an unexpected result. While we had Rory McIlroy and Victor Hovland in the lead, Rahm’s missed putt garnered maximum attention. Furthermore, it seems to be the shortest putt Rahm has missed while on the PGA Tour.

Jon Rahm on why he missed his 10-inch putt

While there seemed to be no excuse, Rahm seemed just as frustrated as everyone else over the putt.

“I figured somebody was going to ask,” Rahm said. “I wish I could give you all the excuses in the world, but no, it’s as simple as, it just didn’t feel good in my hands, and I tried to stop, and I didn’t. It was very odd.”

Furthermore, Rahm added that his game was not affected, and he did end up playing well. However, that one hole affected the entire result.

In the end, the Spaniard admitted that he did try to stop it. “It didn’t sit well in my hands. I was a little sweaty.”

Additionally, Rahm added he has seen many things, which include people missing because of an improper stance. Irrespective of the reason, it is always frustrating to miss a shot that easy.
