Jon Rahm receives a special award

Rahm had probably one of the best golfing seasons of his career in 2021. The Spaniard even won his maiden major championship last year, the US Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course. Rahm was the highest point earner for Team Europe after winning 3.5 points out of his five matches at the 2021 Ryder Cup in Wisconsin. Three of these points came from his teammate and fellow countryman Sergio Garcia.

Rahm won the 2021 Seve Ballesteros Award after his fellow DP World Tour professionals voted him as the Player of the Year for 2021. Rahm finished tied fifth in the Masters and tied eight positions at the US PGA Championship last year.  Jon’s highest streak for being the World Number One is 31 consecutive weeks between July 19th to February 14th.

Jon Rahm won the prestigious award for the second time in three years.

What did Jon have to say about his win?

Rahmbo spoke about winning the prestigious award. He said, “Winning anything with Seve’s name on it is a huge honour for me, as is the fact that this is voted for by the players of the DP World Tour.  It is a true honour to be able to win this award for a second time and hopefully, I can continue to make the DP World Tour proud.” Let us hope this can give him the confidence to win this week at the Genesis Invitational.
