“21 cigarettes, 12 Diet Cokes, and 6 packs of Peanut M&M’s.” It is the list of items that took John Daly to play 18-holes at a practice round in 2008! It might sound unreal but, it is the truth, considering Will Brinson, the reporter who wrote an article about it back in 2008, posted it on Twitter.
The final tally of literally everything he put into his body over a full 18 holes:
21 cigs
12 Diet Cokes
6 packs of Peanut M&M's
0.0 ounces of water— Will Brinson (@WillBrinson) May 19, 2022
Will Brinson explained that the article is not available on the internet. However, according to him, he witnessed the golfer’s diet with his own eyes.

Furthermore, he explained that the incident happened at one of the practice rounds at the 2008 Wyndham Championship. Presently, Brinson is working as a senior writer for CBS Sports.
How did the golf world react to John Daly’s story from the 2008 PGA Tour event?
As Brinson’s tweet reached many, some of the reporters shared when they had experienced the golfer do the same.
Asked him at this event in 2007 – where his intake was similar, though I believe I saw Diet Pepsi in the mix, too – why no water. Said he hates the taste.
Hates the taste!

This is not the only time Daly had expressed his hate for the water. In an interview with Graham Bensinger, he had said that his friends on the Tour call him “a camel.” Furthermore, Daly explained that he drinks his coke with ice, and that is the only way he intakes water.
When I worked @ESPNRadio I interviewed him @ the ‘04 US Open in Pinehurst (he actually insisted the interview be @ the local Hooters not the Pinehurst media tent)
He refused to practice on Pinehurst #2, did his practice round at Pine Needles. Same deal: cigs, Diet Coke, M&Ms

Many fans reciprocated it with funny jokes as the incident seemed funnier to them.
To be fair, water is the main ingredient in Miller Lite.

There is absolutely no way these numbers are accurate. You must have missed a few holes.

Meanwhile, many admired the way the golfer is living his life freely without any concerns.
Absolute legend.

However, there were some fans who showed concern over his health.
You can find some research online showing what 1 can of diet coke a day does to your body.. imagine 12 lol.. smoking is probably the healthiest thing on that list.. I'm sure he get an egg Mcmuff when he got that big DC from Mcdonald's you see in some of the pics..

The 2022 PGA Championship began on May 19, and Daly is a part of the field. The golfer is ranked at T56 after round 1 at the Southern Hills. Notably, Jordan Spieth, Hideki Matsuyama, and Bubba Watson are also at the T56 rank with some other golfers.
Daly had won the event back in 1991. At the time, he was still a rookie on the PGA Tour and entered the tournament as the ninth alternative in the field. Yet, he won the event and surprised the entire golf world.
