John Daly Who Once Called Former POTUS, ‘Daddy Trump’ Was Recently Spotted Scouting One of His Golf Courses

Golf is a sport that many indulge in. It is certainly not uncommon to see professional golfers playing alongside other athletes or celebrities in their spare time. One such avid personality is the former POTUS, Donald Trump. He owns several golf courses around the globe and is seen playing the sport quite often. He has formed friendships with several golf professionals over the years. And one of them is the golf great, John Daly.

Daly was recently spotted at the Trump National Doral in Miami. The golf underdog had spent the day on his course and was seen laughing and happy in a Trump Golf Instagram post. The sight got fans wondering how close the two were since it wasn’t his first time on a Trump course.

The bond between John Daly and Donald Trump goes way back to 1992

In December 2021, Daly appeared on ‘The Full Podcast’. There he was asked if he was a fan of Donald Trump, and he responded and said, “I love him.” “He’s the best.” Daly revealed that he’d known Trump for a long time… since 1992.

Daly stated that he first met Trump at a tour event. The businessman had flown in on his helicopter to play alongside Daly at the pro-am. “It was awesome,” stated Daly. That was also the start of their long-standing friendship, as per Daly. The golf pro even claimed that back then Trump had said to him that he would one day be President. Over two decades before he claimed the title.

Long John claimed that the two were close. “I call him Daddy Trump; I’ve never called him Mr. President,” he stated. The golf pro added that Trump and his son, John Daly II, were also very close too. “He loves my son,” he stated.

Daly’s gives his expert take on Trump’s golf game

Since they’ve been friends for so long, Daly and Trump have met quite often on the course. During the podcast, the 56 year old was also asked about Trump’s golf game and how good the former POTUS was. He stated, “I’ve got to work on his short game.” The fact that Daly has taken it upon himself to help Trump clearly shows how close the two really are.

“His putting is good, his chipping just needs a little work,” added Long John. “I’ll get little John to help him.” If Daly’s words weren’t proof enough of the two’s friendship, the two-time major winner also accompanied Trump to the presidential debate in 2020 as his guest.
