The golf world loves John Daly. Long drives, unpredictable victories, and a free-spirited lifestyle are a few of the many factors that make the fans go frenzy over Long John. He talks freely about everything without any filter, and one such conversation led all the golf fans to know about the dark side of the sport.

“A very short one, let’s put it that way,” Daly said. He was answering Graham Bensinger’s question about how the conversation goes when somebody asks him to lose a round for money. He explained that people come up to him to ask him whether he could beat a particular player or not. The people ask these questions to understand which player they should bet on.

Daly shocked the interviewer when he said a similar incident happened at the British Open, the year he won. The golfer said, “He (a bookie) says, ‘look, if you tank it, I will give you a million bucks,’ and I said, ‘Go ff yourself.'”

Daly won the Open Championship in 1995. Although he had a huge lead after two rounds, a bogey in the third round made him fourth in the tournament. However, he won the major in the end by battling with Costantino Rocca in the play-off.

What is John Daly doing now?

The golfer is currently busy playing at the PGA Tour Champions events and releasing his music album. As much as Daly loves golf, he loves music. His new album ‘Whiskey and Water,’ featuring Willie Nelson, was released less than a week ago; it is Daly’s third album.

Although Daly, as a musician, is finding success with his career, Daly, as a golfer, is not getting many good results. He finished in the top 10 in two consecutive official tournaments in 2021. However, ever since then, he was not able to win an official event.

Recently, Daly took part in the HOAG Classic, where he could only score +5 as an overall score. He finished at T59 with four other fellow American golfers.
