“It was just the right thing to do. The members were struggling,” the golfer said. Recently, he explained his reasons for buying the Lion’s Den Club in an interview with the PGA Memes.
“They had bent greens, and they didn’t have the money to spend on,” he added. Daly further explained that it was a membership-based golf course when he brought it. Furthermore, he even kept it like that for almost 13 years.

“I get so many out town players that come in, and I just.. just made it public,” the two-time major champion further added.
The 6036-yard 72-par golf course was originally named Bay Ridge Boat & Golf Club. Originally built in 1969, Daly bought the Lion’s Den Golf Club in 2005.
Being the designer of the Wicked Stick Golf Course, which is one of the Top 20 courses in Myrtle Beach, Daly redesigned the Lion’s Den when he bought it. Notably, he now lives near the Arkansas-based Club with his son. It also has many memorabilia he collected throughout the years.
John Daly shared his personal best score on the Lion’s Den Golf Club!
Nicknamed Long John, Daly is known for his ability to hit long drives. He had even won his first-ever major title at the PGA Championship in 1991 at Crooked Stick with his long driving distance. Furthermore, Daly had then scored a 69 in the 7289-yard course, the second-longest in the history of PGA.
Therefore, it was natural for the interviewer to be curious about how low Daly scored on his own golf club. “I have actually shot 57 on this course,” the golfer proudly said.
