With fame and success, celebrities tend to conceal themselves in front of the public. They hardly reveal their true self to the fans from the fear of losing them. However, John Daly has never been one such celebrity. He has shared everything about himself without thinking about the consequences, and there is a reason for it. 

“My mom,” Daly said as he explained why he has never lied to protect his image. According to the golfer, his mother has always asked him to be honest no matter what. “The more you do things, right or wrong, you just tell the truth about yourself,” Daly said his mother would often tell him that. He was talking to Dave Meltzer on ‘The Playbook’ when he revealed the reason for his non-secretive attitude. 

The two-time major winning golfer explained that he has always followed what his mother had taught him. “I don’t hide my cigarettes on the golf course,” he added. “If I wanna have a drink in front of 50,000 people, I’d drink in front of 50,000 people.” 

Daly has always shared his ups and downs with his fans. He had even shared he has a smoking addiction and had revealed how he got into the habit. He had also revealed how he had once got drunk in between a tournament.

The golfer further added that he does whatever he wants to do because he was brought up in the southern part of America. “Wherever in the south,” Daly added. “We don’t hide anything, and I think that has helped me a lot.” 

Daly is one of the most popular professional golfers in America. The golfer is more famous for his free-spirited lifestyle than his career. However, that doesn’t mean he is not a good golfer.

The golf career of John Daly so far

As soon as he joined the PGA Tour in 1991, Daly established his name as he won the PGA Championship the same year. Furthermore, he had won four more PGA events in his career, including the 1995 Open Championship. He has also won 10 more championships outside the PGA tournaments. 

His ability to hit long drives on the course had earned him the nickname Long John. Daly still continues to show his golfing skills through the PGA Tour Champions events. 

Celebrities usually never share too much about their bad habits in fear of losing fans. However, John Daly has always shared everything with the fans, good or bad. And he thinks his mother and his lifestyle in the South had helped him to always be truthful.
