John Daly Once Narrated How He Beat Tiger Woods at His Own Tournament: ‘I Shoot 65 and Beat Him By Like 6 Shots’

John Daly is a five-time winner on the PGA Tour. This includes 2 major championships also. He is been more famous off-the-course rather than on the course. As a result, he is probably one of the most famous professionals of all time.

Daly appeared on a podcast in 2021 September, where he spoke about how he defeated Tiger Woods after being drunk.

Daly has probably one of the most unique swings in the sport of golf. The 55-year-old still hits the ball miles down the fairway and enjoys his life to the fullest. Daly and Woods have played several professional events together and both professionals respect each other. Daly spoke about how once he beat Tiger Woods after being drunk. Let us take a look at what Daly had to say about it.

Daly said, “Oh, well, I mean, he’s, I have only beaten him like twice at about 5000 of them. It is his tournament and I’m sitting at the table at Sherwood it’s Sherwood in 1000, Oaks, California…”

“It is the early 2000’s. So anyway, I get done early. I didn’t play very good.” Tiger arrives at the scene. Daly offers him a drink but he refuses. After two hours or so Woods comes back. Daly offers him to have a drink but again the same reply. This continues another time. He further reveals their scores of that day, “So like 73 Tiger shot 73. So we’re paired the next morning…”

Woods admits that they (Daly and Woods) didn’t play well that day and he claims that he would defeat Daly the next on the golf course, seeing Daly completely drunk. The next day, “Yeah, I’m in my third bottle of the crown, right.”  Daly is sat at the table along with other professionals at the event and all of them are having their drinks.

Daly continues, “So I go out the next day. I shoot 65 and beat him by like six shots. That’s about the last time I ever beat him. And he is looking at me the whole day… I’ve got drinks coming down.” What is funnier is that Daly tried to show that he is still drinking the crown and is drunk even after beating him.

Team Daly wins 2021 PNC Championship

2021 was an enthralling contest with Team Daly emerging as the winner. The father and son duo shot a final round 57, 15 under par. Team Daly shot two consecutive low rounds to beat Team Woods by two strokes. Team Daly finished the event with an overall score of 27 under par.
