On one fine day, while the camera was rolling in the rain and Daly was waiting for the storm to calm down, Tom Chiarella started having a Q&A session. Tom asked if he could play golf properly after a lap band was installed around his esophagus for him to lose weight. To which Daly replied it was hard as he had less control over swings.

His next question to Daly was if he could still play long after the lap band, as it was restricting his movements. Then Daly compared himself with Nicklaus and said, “I’m an old throwback player, like Nicklaus, always hit from the back of the ball.” He said that he hits long, but not as long as Bubba. He is an old player, and he hits the ball from the back like Nicklaus.

John Daly’s impeccable swing style

Talking about his swings, Daly said his swing was quicker than the other golfers. He was working hard on bringing some improvement to the front. The PGA Tour member used to call it his old balata-ball swing. But over time, balls changed. Golfers had to hit it hard. Because if they did not smother the ball enough, controlling the ball would be impossible.

Daly was going through the miss because of the lap-band. His arms were not being controlled by his guts anymore. So he was missing his shots. It wasn’t terrible, but he was missing shots a bit on the right side.
