In today’s world, professional golf is much more than the actual game itself. Events or tournaments are elaborate affairs, which are complete with a large amount of prize money. When looking at veterans like John Daly, they often have much more than just their performance to offer.

Furthermore, this holds true for the PGA TOUR Champions as well as the regular tour. Many events even end up focusing on their charity, all of which work with different causes.

As a result, countless stories are born. Fans and viewers leave with fond memories, and sometimes, a couple of hundred dollars.

John Daly made two new fans on the Champions Tour last week

Considering a recent video shared by the Champions Tour, Daly seems to have earned himself two fans “I was sitting up there holding the quiet sign and John Daly asked me what club to hit. So I hit a five-iron. He said, I’ll give you $500 if you get this on the (green),” the young fan said.

While the kid did not hit the green, Daly still ended up giving him $500 – along with a signed golf ball.

“I’ll remember this for the rest of my life,” he added.

Later, the kid’s brother had the opportunity to win $500 himself. The younger one two-putted for $500. Moreover, had also Charles Barkley promised him $100 if he two-putted.

What charity will the money go to?

The money will apparently go to Cullman Caring for Kids, which is a food bank in Alabama that feeds 500 families. They even give out 40,000 pounds of food prepared for kids. That particularly seems to have struck a chord with Daly, who claims he almost cried over the sad situation.

Furthermore, the charity works with abused children in the court system and DHR. Ultimately, the money feeds these families, while also raising the necessary awareness.

Why was Daly disqualified recently?

With the senior major – Regions Tradition – going on, Daly found himself disqualified over an error. The 56-year-old failed to sign his scorecard and was subsequently DQ’d. There was not much clarification offered by the tour, and Daly was handed his first disqualification in 102 starts.

Of course, Daly’s fans will remain slightly disappointed over the decision. The two-time major winner is known for his eccentric charm on the course, entertaining and impressing at the same time. A recent highlight of his career was the PNC Championship, which he won with his son by beating Tiger Woods and Charlie.
