We all knew that John Daly had been an ambassador for Hooters for as long as we could remember. The golf legend and the iconic wing chain had been a match made in heaven, with Daly frequently spotted at Hooters locations and even selling merchandise from their parking lots. But then, it seemed like the apple didn’t fall far from the tree – John Daly’s son, John Daly II, also known as Little John, had signed a name, image, and likeness (NIL) deal with Hooters, making him an official ambassador for the brand, just like his dad.
This marked a significant milestone for both Hooters and Daly II, as it was the chain’s first-ever NIL deal and Daly II’s first major partnership. The deal was made official by Hooters on April 19, 2022. As part of the agreement, Daly II promoted the Hooters brand through various marketing activities, including social media campaigns, golf tournaments, and special appearances at Hooters locations. His father, Big John, continued to represent the brand, sporting Hooters apparel and using a custom Hooters golf bag on the PGA Tour Champions.
It was exciting to see the next generation of Daly golfers carrying on the family legacy, both on and off the course. With Daly II on board, Hooters tapped into a younger demographic and brought new energy to the brand. As Bruce Skala, Hooters’ senior vice president of marketing, put it, “Daly II promoted our brand to the next generation as one of the next big names in golf.” We were eager to see what the future held for Daly II and Hooters.

But it is not like Daly II is not a fan of Hooters himself.

Hooters is the ‘ideal’ place for John Daly II to go and ‘unwind’
Daly II expressed his excitement about the partnership, saying, “Hooters is the ideal place for me to go and unwind after a long day on the course or in the classroom, so I am honored to be chosen as an ambassador for the iconic brand. I have seen my father’s great relationship with Hooters over the years, and I am proud to continue my family’s association with this iconic brand”, per official official Hooters site. Due to NCAA rules, Daly II won’t be able to wear sponsored apparel during college tournaments, but he’s looking forward to representing Hooters in other capacities.

Well, not only Daly Jr. it seems like even his father shares the same experience with the brand. In 2022, John Daly, the two-time major winner and five-time PGA Tour champion, continued his 25-year tradition of making a splash at the Masters Tournament. He set up a merch tent in the parking lot outside Augusta National, where he spent most of the week selling his merchandise to fans and posing for photos with Hooters employees. Despite his well-documented struggles with alcohol and gambling, which had reportedly cost him around $50-60 million over his lifetime, Daly appeared to have bounced back from his 2020 bladder cancer diagnosis with gusto and was seen sporting a Santa beard and looking healthy as he mingled with fans and Hooters staff. The Daly duo is set to bring their signature style and enthusiasm to the Hooters brand, and fans can’t wait to see what’s in store.
