John Daly is a two-time major champion. While he won the PGA Championship in 1991, his second win came at the Open Championship in 1995. However, despite the two significant feats, he has primarily been known for his controversial life. Controversies, that have its root in the 90s.

Walking down memory lane, the life of the 56-year-old has arguably been nothing less than a rollercoaster ride. While his downfalls had majorly been on his personal front, they have had a significant effect on his professional career. However, despite all the incidents, John Daly believes that he could be a perfect role model for someone wanting to do well in life.

John Daly opens up about being in the shoes of a role model

John Daly is known for his hard-drinking habits, which led to him being diagnosed with bladder cancer in September 2020. While he has been on his route to recovery, the California-born player made sure to continue pursuing his career, playing on the PGA Tour.

Early this year, Daly indulged in a conversation with a media house. During the conversation, he opened up about how can he be considered a role model. “If you look at me as a role model, if you do the opposite of John Daly, you’re going to do really well in life,” he asserted.

Following such incidents, Daly suffered a couple of tour suspensions, along with numerous pullbacks from sponsors. This wasn’t all. Despite all the downfalls, Daly opted to maintain his larger-than-life lifestyle.

Seven months after the interview, Daly asserts to have majorly worked on his drinking habits. In addition to that, he also asserts to have worked on his luxurious lifestyle.
