The Chilean golfer just made a historical record for the breakaway league. Joaquin Niemann shot the second-lowest round of 59 at LIV Golf Mayakoba, which is just one stroke away from Bryson DeChambeau‘s 12 under 58 in the 2023 season.

The 2-time PGA Tour winner is a recent ISPS HANDA Australian Open winner and is currently leading the field at El Camaleon. Niemann’s strategic gameplay could be attributed to his long, unchanged club setups, which have honored him with 10 professional victories.

The one-time DP World Tour winner is a PING staff golfer. Since his debut in 2018, Niemann has stayed with the same equipment brand. He will complete six years this season. The first club on the Chilean golfer’s bag is the PING G430 LST Driver with 10.5 degrees of loft. He pairs it with the Graphite Design DI 6-X shaft.

The driver sells for $579.99 on the PGA Tour Superstore. The driver helped Niemann be sixth on LIV Golf with a driving distance of 314.1 yards. For his Fairway Woods, the Torque GC captain has chosen one 3-wood and one 5-wood. The 3-Wood on Niemann’s bag is the G430 MAX Fairway with 15 degrees and equipped with a graphite design DI 8-X black shaft, tipped with 1 since.

The 7-wood is the PING G425 MAX Fairway at 20.5 degrees, but he has adjusted to 19.5 degrees. It has been fitted with the same shaft. Both woods are priced at $349.99 per club. Niemann used to have a G430 hybrid until the last season, but it has been removed from his bag for the LIV Golf Mayakoba.

Niemann switched his PING iBlade iron set with Blueprint S Irons (5-PW) paired with a Project X 6.0 shaft. The iron boasts an empty cavity equipped with patented technology, which creates pockets in the clubs. The irons in the set sell for $235 per club.

Wedges, putters, and more from Niemann’s bag

A few months ago, Niemann was using Glide 3.0 and Forged Pro Wedges, but with a hybrid change, he had also replaced the wedges. Instead, he uses 52S and 56S with PING Prototype Wedges with a Project X 6.5 shaft and a GP TV 58 rib grip. The wedges are still in the making and, thus, are not available publicly.

The Chilean golfer’s choice of putter is a bit traditional; he uses the PING PLD Anser Custom Putter. The club has a 3-degree loft and 23 degrees of lie, paired with a chrome shaft and matte raw finish. For the ball, he has opted for the Titleist Pro V1x. This is the equipment Nieman used for his second-lowest round at the Greg Norman-designed golf course.
