Everyone knows how hard it is for LIV players to get into any Majors. Each LIV golfer has to compete and fight for a spot in the grand games because of the lack of OWGR points. Perhaps not anymore! After a disappointing Open performance, Niemann is calling for change where he scored 10 over par and rested at T58. In an interview with LIV Golf United Kingdom, Joaquin Niemann came up with ideas.
That could end this problem once and for all. The LIV Golf star believes it’s time for the majors to open their doors to the best players. He said, “I feel like they’ve got to pull for the best of the game, and I think that’s the right way to do it, hopefully, give us some spots out here on LIV and have the best players in there”. Niemann believes the majors should save some spots for the best LIV golfers.
LIV Golf players are currently shut out of the four majors with only two exceptions. Any guesses? Yes, you’re right! The golfers of the Saudi-backed league can try to qualify for the US Open and Open Championships through the qualifying rounds. Joaquin Niemann was lucky enough to receive special invitations to the Masters and PGA Championship this season and secure his spot in the Open Championship with a 2023 Australian Open win. However, many skilled players like Mito Pereira and Richard Bland were left out.

“I would say top 10 guys. There’s definitely 10 guys, top 10 guys here that could win majors, and yeah, they can definitely give those 10 spots for us and have more competitive majors,” Niemann continued.
The two-time PGA Tour winner believes that the ideal number of reservations for LIV golfers in any Major should be ten. This year it went down pretty easy for the LIV golfer with special invitations, but will it be the case next year as well?
