It was the 2023 PGA Championship when Brooks Koepka last won a major. Since then, the five-time major winner’s performance at the four majors has been forgettable. Even though Koepka earned six top-15 finishes in the LIV Golf season and won at LIV Golf Adelaide, his performance in the majors has been ordinary.
After finishing T26 at the last two majors and T45 at the Masters, the LIV Golf pro concluded the 152nd Open at T43, as Royal Troon became a challenge he couldn’t overcome. It was not the finish Koepka had hoped for, but diverting his attention from the poor performance, his son did something joyous to lift his spirits. After the Open concluded at Royal Troon, the Koepka family didn’t leave Scotland just yet.
The Sports Illustrated model, Jena Sims, posted a couple of stories on her Instagram as the family dined at Lido Troon, a bar and brasserie. Sims shared adorable pictures of Crew Koepka in a kilt as they enjoyed the Scottish culture and called her son’s attire “truly iconic.” Koepka, on the other hand, could be seen enjoying the time with his son and forgetting all about his disappointing finish a few hours earlier at Royal Troon.

Seemingly, the family was more focused on being present and relishing their time together rather than dwelling on the Open Championship scores. For one reason, the Koepka family’s stay in Troon became memorable for decades to come.

Brooks Koepka and his wife, Jena Sims, welcomed their first child in August 2023. However, since Crew Koepka was a premature baby (he arrived seven weeks early), he spent 20 days in the NICU. After he came home, both parents relayed that it was a challenging few days as they adjusted to parenthood.

Have an interesting take?
Now at seven months old, Sims has been sharing every little part of Crew Koepka’s journey. From his diagnosis to how things have been as a premie baby, fans know all about it. Just a few hours ago, Sims shared a crucial step: Crew Koepka took his first steps at the Royal Troon Clubhouse. The model actress deemed it a “pretty special place” for this monumental moment in her life as a mother.
She posted the few steps Crew Koepka took on her Instagram story and emotionally expressed, “Years from now, I’ll never remember what Brooks scored here, but I’ll never forget where our son took his first steps.” Without a Claret Jug in his hand, Koepka would surely be leaving Troon with far better memories, nonetheless.
