Two majors in a season or nine wins in a season? What would be your pick? Scottie Scheffler might just pick the former. The 20-man Invitational is done, Scheffler has won after scoring a brilliant 9 under on Sunday. With this, he equaled the record for most wins in a season and became the third-ever Hero World Challenge winner to defend his title. This is quite an achievement, but Scheffler still is jealous. Of Xander Schauffele.

“A year like Xander’s, I had a great year, but sometimes you almost feel jealous of a year like Xander’s because he won two majors,” said #1 at Albany. But how is it that he is keeping his head straight? and will continue to do so? He will focus on what is important, and not overthink.

At the post-round presser, world #1 revealed that he tries to “approach each event the same.” He then continued,  “I think when I’m practicing and playing at home, the majors are always kind of in the back of your head. When you’re practicing, the majors are always kind of there.” That truly makes sense. Majors, after all, are four of the most well-respected tournaments in golf.

Overthinking about his results is not something that Scheffler does. Golf is just a part of his life and not something he wholly dedicates his life to. But when he is out there preparing for a win, he sure likes to give his all. “But as far as my career and stuff goes, that’s not something that I try to think about too much. I try to, when I’m practicing, be focused on what I’m doing and the things that I want to work on to prepare for those golf tournaments, “ said Scheffler.

“Right now I have a good understanding of what it feels like to be in the heat of the moment and under pressure. When I’m at home practicing and playing, I’m preparing to go out and
play in those tournaments,” continued 2x Masters winner. With this mindset, Scheffler might just surpass Schauffele’s 2-major 2024 next year. He is anyways looking forward to 2025, “I am excited for next season, I’m excited to get home and get some rest over the next couple weeks and prepare for another season.”
