Jay Monahan and Co. had yet another grievance knocking at the door- whether it be the delay in its rounds at several events or the decreasing PGA Tour TV ratings which are down by 20% from last year. As of late, the PGA Tour has amassed various complaints from the golf world.
This time it is related to the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, which recently concluded. Fans were already annoyed with the inclement weather and the delay in the first two rounds, now they are fed up with TPC Craig Ranch course conditions. A page called the PGA/LIV Hot Takes highlighted that the CJ Cup Byron Nelson lacked fans and the top PGA Tour players.

They posted a tweet asking Monahan and Co. that the venue for the event needs to change because the course condition was poor, from fans to last year’s sponsor AT&T and even the star players have left its side. So, the only solution might be offering a better and more challenging course that may attract the fans and the players.

The Dallas Metroplex area has many great golf courses in and around it, notably the Preston Trail Golf Club, the Dallas National Golf Club, and the Brook Hollow Golf Club. Yet, the Monahan-led PGA Tour settled with TPC Craig Ranch. This was questioned by this fan as they complained, “There are probably 10 better courses in the DFW Metroplex; instead, Ray Jay picked this one.”

Looking at all the patchy grass that the TPC Craig Ranch had at the official PGA Tour event, it was shocking for many. Usually, a PGA Tour event like the one at Pebble Beach or Riviera should not have seen as many divots or patchy grass conditions. But comparably, the CJ Cup Byron Nelson was worse. This fan was left shocked at the ordeal and said, “Course is criminally bad.”
While the 156 PGA Tour golfers were at TPC Craig Ranch, 54 other golfers from LIV Golf were playing at the Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore. However, the course conditions there were not bad. But in fact, it was perfect. This fan compared the two leagues and explained how it shows the PGA Tour in bad light. They said, “Sod patches all over the place, bad look for the PGA Tour. Especially after LIV’s event at Sentosa had fantastic conditions.”
Although many were taken aback by the poor conditions at TPC Graig Ranch, this fan focused on something else: the lack of fans in the photo right behind the green. They were concerned by it as they asked, “There is no one there. WTF?”

The TPC Craig Ranch is a prestigious golf course. Over the years it has hosted many golf events. And evidently so, it has a membership cost ranging between $25,000 to $50,000 of initiation fees, with monthly dues of $1,025. Regardless, from the looks of this fan did not take it for the esteemed course that it was and rather named it a Municipal course. They disparagingly said, “$30 muni course at best...”
