Jason Day nearly managed to give the Augusta National officials a nightmare again! Back in 2024, the Australian pulled a stunt that could have gotten him disqualified. Collaborating with his sponsor, Malbon, Day wore an absurd outfit to the Masters Tournament. He pulled up in a vest with ‘No. 313 Malbon Golf Championship’ printed on it. The bizarre choice of attire was questioned by many in the community before the tournament officials jumped in to try and save the day. They asked the 37-year-old to take off the vest, deeming it to be “too busy,” to which Day obliged.
Day did ditch the Malbon-branded sweater for the remainder of the tournament. But this year, he and the brand decided to plan their Augusta National outfit in advance to avoid the embarrassment. In an exclusive interview, co-founder of Malbon, Stephen Malbon, was questioned about what Jason Day will wear in the Green Jacket event this year. That’s when he revealed how they had already planned an abstract outfit inspired by the work of Futura 2000. However, the tournament officials stepped in early this time and shot down Day and Malbon’s idea.
Now, the 2015 PGA Championship winner himself has added more context to the story during an interview with Dan Rapaport. Day joined the Dan on Golf podcast, where he was asked, “What do we got lined up for this year? A little bit less spicy?” Amused by the question, the PGA Tour pro admitted, “If they would have let us do what we first put the scripting through to them, it would have been a lot crazier than last year. But it will be toned down just because they have a little bit more… They asked to see the scripting before.” Day confirmed that it was the tournament officials who started the conversation to have more control over the situation. There are no specific rules for the dress code but as Stephen Malbon mentioned in his interview, they adjust the regulations based on what is “deemed appropriate by the tournament committee.”

Continuing to explain the situation, the Australian added, “The funny thing was is that they have never asked to see the scripting of mine because I’ve always been pretty neutral and down the middle. This year they asked because obviously what happened last year.” Seems like fans won’t get to see Jason Day take on Augusta National in another crazy attire this year.

Crazy outfit or not, can Jason Day pull a crazy win at Augusta National in 2025?
Jason Day has not needed his cape of crazy outfits to save the day. The super-fashionable man of the PGA Tour has been on an amazing run in the seven appearances he has made this year. Day has yet to miss a single cut in 2025, finishing in the top half of the leaderboard on all seven occasions. He has also managed two top-10 finishes that saw him nearly win the American Express while also competing with Russell Henley for the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Every event Jason Day has played in 2025 has seen him finish within the top 50 of the leaderboard. He may not have won an event in over a year, but that doesn’t mean he is not capable of grabbing a major win this weekend. Especially if Day can replicate his form from 2015 when he won five PGA Tour titles in a year.
