Jason Day surprised everyone with his change in sponsorship. Day parted ways with Nike, which brought an end to a nearly eight-year-long partnership. The Australian golfer joined Malbon along with Jesper Parnevik and, Charley Hull.

Charley Hull’s collaboration with the LA-based brand received positive reactions from the golf community. Jason Day, on the other hand, had been repeatedly subjected to criticism for his fashion choices since his sponsorship change. After a pretty tumultuous round of debate at the Wells Fargo Championship on his outfit, it looks like the golf community has finally started to approve of his attire.

Jason Day took to his Instagram account and shared snippets from the practice round on Tuesday at the Valhalla. The thirteen-time PGA Tour winner opted for all-white Malbon attire for the greens at the Valhalla this time. He wore a white full-sleeve baggy shirt with a huge dotted Malbon sign at the back of it. This was paired with yet another baggy pair of baggy pants. However, this time, they opted for shorts. Additionally, he added a white cap and a white pair of shoes and socks to give just the perfect edge to his monochrome attire on the greens.

The former No. 1 was caught up in the Masters controversy. He caught the ire of more than just traditional fans; he was accused of violating the Tour’s vague player endorsement policy, which states that the logos and other marks on their apparel should be in good taste as to content size, location, and quantity. Things are starting to look up for Day with his T4 finish at North Carolina and the recent nod of approval from netizens for his on-course attire.

The golf community praises the return of ’90s trends

Jason Day finally found his relief after months of being trolled for every attire that he put on throughout the 2024 PGA Tour season. His outfit, which gave off a vibe of comfort that was finally suited for the golf course, was appreciated not just by his followers, but also by other players on the PGA Tour.

Max Homa, who tied for the eighth position at the Wells Fargo Championship, just 2 strokes away from Day, thought it was the best outfit that he had ever worn on any course. Homa was quite generous with the compliment and wrote, “This is by far my favorite outfit you’ve ever worn”. One of them also took to the fact that Malbon has been playing with 90s trends. For instance, they have drawn inspiration from baggy pants like Tiger Woods, checked shirts like Ben Hogan, or comfortable shorts. Taking to this, one of them simply commented, “Bringing back the 90s vibe 🔥”.

While Jason Day was decked up all in white, his caddie gave in the perfect contrast beside him, with just the perfect pop of color for the course. Luke Reardon wore a lemon yellow jacket with a pair of grey shorts. What made his attire stand out were the dual brown pockets that both his co-ord had, highlighting the shade of the entire outfit. He took away the partial limelight from Day, and there surely is no denying that, as one netizen commented, “Even got his caddie right 🔥🔥”.

However, with all the fuss around his outfit, one thing has been pretty off this season for Day: his gameplay. With only four top-10 finishes and two missed cuts, which include the Farmers Insurance Open and the Texas Children’s Houston Open, he is yet to showcase his best appearance. His Wells Fargo Championship came as a ray of hope to his followers. Hoping that he does exceptionally well in this one too, while complimenting his attire, one of them commented, “That fit is so dope 😎 and the color is perfect for springtime golf ⛳️ go low homie 🤙🏼 can’t wait to see the fit for all 4 rounds Malbon is crushing the game 🔥🔥🔥🔥”.
