The world of golf has set its sights on the Western side of New York for the 105th edition of the PGA Championship. Despite all the big names stepping on the field in Rochester, perhaps one of the biggest names Tiger Woods is set to miss the upcoming Major. But that did not stop the 15-time Major winner from being labeled as a ‘Freak’ by a recent PGA Tour winner.

Woods’ participation at the Masters last month came to its tragic ending, as despite making the cut at Augusta National, the golfer decided to withdraw from the Major after a few holes in the third round due to the revival of his longstanding injury. Weeks after the first Major of the season, Tiger announced that he has undergone a successful Subtalar Fusion procedure.

Deeming to his rehabilitation, Woods won’t be competing at the PGA Championship. But despite his absence, the Hall of Famer was reminisced at the Oak Hill Country Club by the latest PGA Tour winner.

Why is Tiger Woods a ‘Freak’ according to this PGA Tour Pro?

Ahead of the commencement of the PGA Championship this week, participants answered some of the media questions at the press conference. Among the long list of golfers was last week’s AT&T Byron Nelson winner, Jason Day. The win this past Sunday was Day’s first professional victory since the 2018 Wells Fargo Championship.

One of the reporters asked the golfer about the depths of struggles he went through to get back to the winner’s list. Jason said, “I didn’t know if this was kind of the end for me just because of where my body was and how I was feeling”. While the Aussie had his struggles with injuries, he then recalled one of the greatest comebacks of all time.

We all look at like Tiger’s 2019 win at Augusta”, said Day while also adding the mental and physical challenges he and Woods went through. Tiger Woods won his first Major in 11 years at the 2019 Masters after undergoing a series of injuries in the past decade. He further added, “That’s Tiger, and he’s a bit of a freak”.

Jason Day then talked about how he believes it’s all part of the ‘journey’ and that he must try to get himself ‘better’. While the Aussie took inspiration from his buddy’s great feat in 2019, he will be trying his best to imitate a similar achievement at the Oak Hill Country Club from tonight onwards. Since Day is back on the winner’s block, what are the odds of him winning his second PGA Championship?

Can Jason Day take home the Wanamaker Trophy?

After he underwent several surgeries, Tiger Woods defied the odds when he won his 15th Major title in 2019. Nonetheless, Day will also be eyeing a similar outcome at the 105th PGA Championship this weekend. Following his first victory in 1835 days last week, Jason has jumped up the odds to win his second Wanamaker Trophy.

The 2015 PGA Championship winner is the eighth favorite at the second Major of the season. The odds of him winning this weekend stand at +2800. Regardless, Jason Day seems to have gotten back to his elite form following his triumph in Texas this past Sunday. But has he got enough weapons to beat the likes of fellow PGA Tour stars and LIV Golfers in Rochester?
