What about the current generation of golfers does Jack Nicklaus dislike?
In 2020, Nicklaus had a deep conversation with GOLF.com’s The Drop Zone Podcast. He discussed aspiring talents such as Bryson DeChambeau and reminisced about his visits at the Augusta National. Nonetheless, the Hall of Famer then talked about how golfers should turn leads into victories at Masters.
“You’ve got to figure out how to finish it”, said Nicklaus. The interviewer then asked the legendary golfer if he kept an eye on the scoreboard. “Yeah, I looked at the scoreboard”, replied Nicklaus. He further added, “I think if you don’t look at the scoreboard you’re an idiot”.

The co-host also added that many of the current generations of golfers don’t tend to look at the scoreboard, to which the Golden Bear responded by saying, “How do they know where they are?” The 82-year-old then began his rant by saying, “I mean you’ve got to look at the scoreboard to figure at what, what you’re doing. I mean good gracious”.
The Hall of Famer ended by sharing how being at the top of the leaderboard, it is important for the leader to monitor the rest of the field to position himself accordingly. Whether one may like it or not, a golf suggestion from Jack Nicklaus must be followed regardless of its repercussions. After all, it was his principles and discipline that helped him reach the peak of the sport.
