John Daly has not had the easiest journey. His life story is full of ups and downs. The downs, however, have had a history of being overly burdening on the golfing sensation. Everyone involved in the world of golf is aware of John Daly’s striking personality and even more interesting life struggles. The pro golfer’s distinctive approach never fails to grab attention. Both his personal and professional life have most often been the talk of the golfing town.

Daly has been battling cancer for a while now. The pro golfer is staying strong in his fight against bladder cancer. However, in order to rise above the challenges posed by his condition, Daly has had to make numerous changes to his lifestyle. This includes his eating, drinking, and smoking habits. Gambling has also been one of Daly’s pursuits. Recently, he expressed his feelings about the same.
John Daly, Casinos, and a different space
John Daly is popularly known as “America’s most-favorite underdog.” His life story is one to remember. The 56-year-old is famous for his long-time gambling addiction. He recently revealed the same in his autobiography titled, ‘John Daly – My Life In & Out Of The Rough.’

Daly admitted to having lost millions in his gambling career so far. The pro golfer explained how gambling puts him in a different space altogether.
Daly said, “Gambling is the only thing that gets my juices flowing as golf does – or whiskey used to. As I told a writer … about five years ago, playing slot machines for me is like being completely alone, on my own, like on a cross-country drive.
He continued, “All the noise in a casino? I don’t hear it. I’m in a zone, and I’m all by myself. I’ll check my watch, and maybe 10, or 15 hours have gone by. It’s scary how far away I get.”
Even though Long John has chosen a better lifestyle for himself in order to battle cancer, he still suffers from his addiction to gambling. Daly has suffered a lot in his prime time and is still dealing with its after-effects. What is more astounding is his attitude which has remained positive throughout.
Daly and his brave fight against cancer
Daly had to undergo surgery to fight the disease. However, he is still facing issues because of the disease.
Bladder cancer, for one, has a fairly high chance of reoccurrence. Daly has been strong in his fight against this malignancy. His positive attitude is inspirational for many of us.

He once said, “I always tell people I’ve lived one hell of a life. No matter what happens, I’m not scared to die or anything.”
Although, Daly’s physical condition has limited his time playing golf lately. He has been dealing well with his circumstances and responding well to his body’s wake-up call.
