Saying that this season’s Ryder Cup has been brutally surprising would be an understatement. When preparations were high, it appeared that both teams were ready for the matchplay on the Roman greens, but now, as we get a step closer to the finale, the results seem to be in favor of Team Europe, somehow a rendition of last week’s Solheim Cup.

The fans have had a multitude of reactions to the game and the players this year. With the Ryder Cup being one of men’s golf’s most anticipated events, disagreements and agreements on all sides have been very strong. Not just fans, but former players and the sports community have also been vocal about their liking and dismissals this year. After today’s heckling incident by Patrick Cantlay, speaking on one such trail, golf podcast No Laying Up co-founder Trom Carter has shared something with the golf fans. What are his thoughts on this year’s Ryder Cup play and players? Let’s find out!

The European Team advocate, much like many former golfers, has expressed his thoughts on this year’s play in Europe. Since this time the game was to be played on European soil, everyone at first talked about the hostile European crowd’s attitude toward the American team. Because of the laughter from the European crowd that broke out after today’s game, it now appears that the divide between the American and European crowds has grown even wider.

American player Patrick Cantlay, on the second day of the Ryder Cup, seems to have caused an internal dispute among Team USA. During the Saturday foursomes, Cantlay refused to wear a team cap, and when asked, it was revealed that Cantlay believed players should be paid to participate in the Ryder Cup.

After Team America’s Day 2 performance, a correspondent took to Twitter to share the video of the European chants after today’s game. The chants were directed at Team America, referring to Cantlay’s earlier remark. In the video, the crowd is heard chanting, “Hats off to your bank account,” in a rhythm.

The tweet, as expected, gained attention from fans and the golf community alike. Carter quoted the tweet with a series of emojis, laughing and enjoying the chants with the fans.
