Ever since LIV Golf’s inception, a lot has changed in the world of golf. The animosity between the PGA Tour and the Saudi-backed league has been gaining traction with every new development. LIV defectors have had to face the wrath of their choice on multiple occasions. One of the challenges currently being faced by them is the one involving the OWGR. Many LIV players have boldly spoken up against the same. Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, and Graeme McDowell are a few of the aforesaid players. Adding to the list, Patrick Reed has also spoken up recently against the OWGR’s delay in making a decision.

“Captain America” was undaunted in expressing his opinions. He brought out the issue that when all players are not considered while making the World rankings, the system fails. This is not the first time someone from the world of golf has spoken about the OWGR rankings, however, it is interesting to hear it from Reed.
Patrick Reed gives a bold statement on the ongoing OWGR issue
Reed is an American professional golfer playing in the LIV Golf. He has a long experience playing golf while being associated with the PGA tour. He has won nine tournaments on the PGA Tour, including one major championship, the 2018 Masters Tournament, two World Golf Championships, the 2014 WGC-Cadillac Championship, and the 2020 WGC-Mexico Championship.

Patrick decided to make a move to LIV Golf this year. Ever since his move, the pro golfer has issued some bold statements. Recently, when he was asked a question about the OWGR rankings, his straightforward and blunt answer was what made heads turn.
Patrick said, “It just makes the World Ranking system insignificant. Let’s be honest; it’s not a true system… If you’re competing in a golf tournament and they meet every criterion you’re supposed to meet to have World Ranking points, then they should be getting World Ranking points no matter what….If you’re trying to say that we don’t deserve World Ranking points, this and that, then it’s a political battle, it’s not an actual true system. Last time I checked, every sport you play, it’s based on competition and who you’re playing. It doesn’t matter what tour you’re playing on.”
What did Reed say about the Tours?
A few weeks ago, Patrick Reed was seen explaining how it isn’t much different to play on the PGA and the DP Tours, or LIV Golf. He spoke at length about the aforementioned. The pro golfer provided some clarity about the unfettered schedule provided to LIV golfers and how they make use of it.

Reed said, “I’ve played on two tours my whole life, my whole career… I don’t see any difference between me playing the PGA Tour and here and playing on LIV and here.”
The pro golfer was not far behind to reason out his argument with facts and numbers. He continued, “LIV only has 14 events next year, which means I’ll be over here more. Guys are like, oh, you joined LIV to play a lesser schedule. Well, I’m a guy that’s played 31 to 34 events a year. So if I played 14 on LIV and I play six here, that’s 20 and 11 to 14 extra weeks I can spend time with my family,”
He was also not far behind to share his opinion about the Tours allowing LIV defectors to play. However, he did recognize that it was not his decision to make. Patrick hoped that the tours did the right thing and allowed them to play. But he knew it wasn’t his decision to make.
