John Daly on the new technology golf ball
Long John is arguably one of the biggest hitters of all time and even manages to hit the ball miles off the tee at this age, 55. Moreover, the new golf ball with a firmer outer surface helps him hit it even longer. However, once an interview revealed how the new hard golf ball has affected his golf game. And how he can not do what he was able to do with the Balata golf ball.
Daly spoke about the same in an interview with David Meltzer back in 2018. His view on the new generation of golf balls will truly amaze every golf fan.

He said, “You know, the golf ball I think it’s been the big deal. I think the golf ball just flies further. But for me I mean I’m I’m not hitting it nowhere near when I was young. I haven’t been the same I had to go from a draw to cut. So I mean technology to be honest, is really not helped John Daly at all it’s actually hurt me.”
He added, “For me, I think it’s killed me because I’m not as great as I used to be as a short game artist. I was always a Balata guy. Yeah, you had to really work a Balata ball. And these balls, you can barely hardly ever cut them or draw them because they’re so firm now.”
John’s words highlight how tough is the transition from the old style and the new generation golf ball. And also the effect that it has on the professional’s game.
