LIV’s event in Australia saw America’s Talor Gooch win an incredible $4,000,000 amidst a festival-like atmosphere in Adelaide’s The Grange Golf Club. It was Gooch’s first-ever LIV title after he scored a remarkable 62-62-73 in three rounds.
However, not everything happened in favor of the golfer, who is currently in Singapore for LIV’s next international event. Appearing in Fore the People podcast, the 31-year-old shed light on a disappointing experience that happened right after his win.

LIV Adelaide boasted an incredible $20,000,000 prize purse, with the winner taking home $4,000,000 in earnings. While Gooch did win the event, he failed to pocket the massive cash prize in its entirety.
After his win, the PGA Tour defector spoke to pro-golfers John Peterson and JJ Killeen for their podcast. The hosts wanted to know how the Saudi-backed golf league paid their players for their win. So, how much did the LIV pro actually get paid?
“It was a little bit disheartening seeing 47 and a half percent because Australian taxes [do] not enter the account,” he said. Gooch also shared that the money comes in almost right after the event draws to an end. “It comes, you know, almost it sometimes it’s like 48 hours, but it’s usually 24 hours after it direct deposit hits.”
“It was a big one this last week, but yeah, it s***ed that 47 and a half percent was withheld for Australian taxes, unfortunately,” confessed the golfer. “I am by no means complaining, but the 4, once you cut it all up, let’s just say that it’s lot less than 4.” Meanwhile, Bubba Watson-led RangeGoats GC, which Gooch is a part of, came in 2nd during the team event. The team won $1.3 million for their performance.
While the diminished prize money may have disappointed the American golfer, he now has another big reason to smile. Taking to Twitter, the golfer revealed a highly-coveted invitation that he received recently!

On Friday, the LIV Adelaide winner Gooch shared a piece of amazing news with his fans via social media. The golfer took to Twitter to reveal that he had received an invitation from the PGA of America for the impending PGA Championship. Despite his recent heroics on the course, the golfer’s chances to play in the U.S. Open will depend on his next Major outing. Per the rules, he must rank in the top 60 of the OWGR to qualify for the 123rd U.S. Open.
Just got my invite to the PGA Champ 🙌🏻🙌🏻 now just in a position where I can play well and get in that top 60. Wish this wasn’t the case, but not an unfamiliar place.
