Phil Mickelson is one of the finest and most honest golfers of the current age. He always speaks his heart out, whether it is any tour or tour rules. When he did not like the PGA tour’s decision to suspend the former PGA tour members, he filed a complaint against it. Even though he withdrew his name, he was brave and honest enough to share his genuine feelings publically.

The same thing happened in 2012 when new rules were introduced in the world of golf, and he was not on board. He poured his heart out and spoke about what he felt about the new rules regarding putt.

Every golfer had their take, and Mickelson called the decision unfair. He said he understood the motive and was well aware of both sides. But ahead of Barclays Singapore Open, he said, “I think it is grossly unfair.” Because, according to him, golfers have played and practiced playing with the same putt for over three decades. How could one expect all golfers to give up the habit and comfort of playing with that putter?

The former PGA tour member, Mickelson, believed the putt in question was comfortable for all older golfers to play with. Because it was the better way to putt, he suggested that all young players should learn to putt as it would help them in the future.

He expressed his concern about the amateur golf players because the ban would make it hard for them to play, and Mickelson did not want to discourage any player.

Was Mickelson alone in this?

The former No. 1 Tiger Woods put his views forward on the rumors of the rule and claimed that the putter should be part of the bag as the shortest club, but Adam Scott completely disagreed. According to him, the putter shouldn’t be the shortest club in the bag. It was never the rule before, and he did not feel it needed to be a rule.
