Will Charlie Woods ever play professionally? Is he ever going to be as good as his old man? These were the questions lingering in the minds of fans since he showcased his talent at the Tour Champions’ unofficial event, the PNC Championship. And the statement Tiger Woods has given recently about his son can be considered the answer to all such concerns.

Notably, the Woods duo will participate for the third time at the father-son event that will be held at the Grand Lakes Course in Orlando. And according to the 15-time major champion, his son is more than ready for all future events, including the PNC Championship.

Does Tiger Woods consider Charlie Woods to be better than him?

Tiger Woods has been playing golf since he was a toddler. His junior and collegiate-level statistics were more than good for an amateur, as he won three consecutive US Junior Amateurs and US Amateurs from 1991 to 1996. He continued his form when he turned professional and gradually became the G.O.A.T by winning 100+ titles worldwide.

Since Charlie is the golf legend’s son and he is interested in playing golf, spectators have been keeping an eye on him to see if he is good enough to fill his old man’s shoes. While half of them believed he can, the other half had doubts about him. However, the recent interview Tiger had with Golf Digest shows that it is he who has trouble filling in for his son.

“His hands are bigger than mine now,” the 82-time PGA Tour champion said. “He wears a bigger glove than I do.”

Last year, Team Woods came so close to winning the PNC Championship, thanks to their 11 birdies in a row. Notably, Charlie had contributed just as much as his father, if not more, to get that remarkable result. And Tiger is confident they can deliver the same or even better results this time around as well. “It is coming,” he further told the GD, implying his son’s improvement in golf.

Charlie Woods was just a 11-year-old when he first participated in the PNC Championship in 2020. Although he made his first-ever eagle there and showcased an improved self in the following year, his team has never been able to win the Tour Champions’ unofficial tournament.

Apart from the father-son event, Woods jr. also plays in junior-level golf competitions. According to his South Florida Section PGA for Junior profile, he has played a total of eight events and won once in 2020.
