Notably, the 150th Open will be Mickelson‘s second event after becoming a LIV Golf player. The PGA Tour and the DP World Tour have suspended the league players from attending their sanctioned events. However, the major tournaments, which are not under any Tour, haven’t banned them from participating:
“Players who are exempt or have earned a place through qualifying for The 150th Open,” the statement from the R&A officials read. “In accordance with the entry terms and conditions will be able to compete in the Championship at St. Andrews.”
Golf Fans’ reaction to Mickelson’s practice session
Since he joined the LIV Golf, the PGA Tour fans haven’t been positive towards Mickelson. The mentality was evident from the comment section under the Twitter video.

Furthermore, the 52-year-old hasn’t been performing well recently. He didn’t make the cut at the U. S. Open and finished with a 30+ ranking at the London and Portland LIV Golf events. His statistics also make people believe he won’t be able to play well at St. Andrews.
It doesn’t matter. He’s not going to even come close to competing in the Open Championship anyway!

Mickelson had worn shorts while practicing for the Open. The golf world didn’t forget to point this out and make fun of the golfer.
You’d think with $200 million of blood money he’d at least buy some shorts that look good.
