While many big names were earnest to secure a spot in the Ryder Cup team one of those places was swept away by Justin Thomas. But it was not at all a smooth ride for the PGA Tour player. His 2023 season record is being used by many to challenge his candidature in the biennial event.
But there are some big players who are ready to support him. Days after Rory McIlroy who will be playing from Europe’s side, praised Thomas, he has found another ally in one of his teammates.

Justin Thomas got his wish of playing in the Ryder Cup this year despite having a tumultuous season. However, there are many who are questioning and criticizing his selection. But the support from the golf players’ community continues to be his strength till the final showdown.
And days after Rory McIlroy praised him, now Ryder comrade Keegan Bradley lent his support to Justin. At the tournament’s press conference yesterday he was asked about what makes JT good this year in light of his inconsistent form and previous Ryder Cup record.
To this, Bradley answered, “Yeah, he is not afraid of the moment he’s in, and he loves match play. His record speaks for itself. He’s been the best Ryder Cup player probably in the last decade. I think any time you have a chance to have that guy on your team, you want him.”
With his remarks, Bradley showed that he has trust in Thomas and will depend on his support on the green this week……

Rory McIlroy sees Justin Thomas as a big competitor in the Ryder Cup
Two weeks ago McIlroy appeared on the Golf’s Subpar podcast. In the interview, while talking about the Team USA squad for the Ryder Cup the Irishman said “There are other guys on that team I’d rather face than JT.” Later reacting to this Thomas was delighted. He responded “That’s actually giving me goosebumps. That’s very cool for him to say. I take that as a compliment.” And this appreciation also made him nervous. Getting such words of praise by such an experienced player as McIlroy is no small feat.

And they will be now facing off against each other this week. Both the teams have reached Rome and the eyes are on Justin Thomas. This week he has got the chance to show everyone that his selection is worth it.
