Commencing from May 30 to June 2, the RBC Canadian Open will be hosted at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club. Although several Canadian nationals, including the defending champion Nick Taylor, are planning to take back the trophy for the country again, previous Hamilton winners like Rory McIlroy would also be there on the greens. But do you think this season’s latest major winner, Xander Schauffele, would take part in the race?
Xander Schauffele has never taken part in the RBC Canadian Open before, and that is not changing this year as well! According to the final field released for the 2024 RBC Canadian Open, the golfer’s name is nowhere to be seen on the list.
Winning the 106th edition of the PGA Championship at Valhalla was a huge achievement for Xander Schauffele. After a major fan consensus was ready to hail Scottie Scheffler as the winner of this season’s PGA Championship, Xander Schauffele shone bright with a score of 21 under par, where he also defeated Bryson DeChambeau with a one-stroke lead. It was not only his very first major win, but he also came out of his two-year drought. He won the 2022 Zurich Classic in New Orleans.

Unlike many other busy golfers, Schauffele’s number of events played in a season never went above 25 after 2018. As particular as he is about the events he chooses and the number of times he plays in a season, Schauffele also ensures his top 10 finishes and participation ratio is near about 1/3rd to 1/2 consistently. After his maiden major glory, he stated, “I told myself this is my opportunity—ccapture it.” But sadly, he would not be giving himself the same opportunity even in this season’s Canadian Open. But wait, Xander Schauffele might be playing in the other upcoming PGA Tour event.
