Many times, Tiger Woods has made himself clear on the use of golf carts in PGA Tour events. A few years back during a press conference, Woods without any hesitation, refused the usage of a cart in PGA Tour events. He said, “No, I wouldn’t. No, absolutely not. Not for a PGA Tour event. Call him adamant or a man of principles, but he really wanted to make a comeback only when he was fit enough to not use a golf cart in a PGA Tour event. His refusal to use golf carts on the course, however, is limited to PGA Tour events. In a press conference conducted at the 2022 Hero World Challenge, he said, “On the PGA Tour, no. On the sanctioned events where it’s allowed? Yes.”
Woods once said, “ I think [walking] is an integral part of the game, at our level. As far as a regular event, no, I would never do that.” However, what he did not take into consideration was that some people might suffer from certain conditions that might make it difficult for them to walk through the course. Casey Martin’s case is one such example. Woods has confirmed that he will be playing in the 2023 Genesis Invitational. However, If he decides to use a cart, he should be ready to face a lot of criticism from his critics.
