Phil Mickelson’s harsh comments about the PGA Tour

Tiger’s compatriot, Phil Mickelson, doesn’t share the same opinion as Woods. In fact, in what stirred a huge controversy, Phil called the PGA Tour a “dictatorship” and called out their alleged ‘obnoxious greed’.

When news broke out and all hell broke loose, he mentioned that he made those statements in an “off-record” interview and that they were used without his consent and out of context.

Mickelson clarified, “It was reckless. I offended people, and I am deeply sorry for my choice of words. I’m beyond disappointed and will make every effort to self-reflect and learn from this.”

Woods tears apart Phil for his comments on the PGA

Woods, along with other golfers, said that Phil had said things he didn’t appreciate, and nor did the other golfers extend any support to them. “Phil has said some things that I think a lot of us who are committed to the tour and committed to the legacy of the tour, have pushed back against,” Woods said.

Tiger added, “He has taken some personal time and we all understand that. But I think that some of his views on how the tour could be run, should be run, been a lot of disagreement there.”

Woods clearly disagreed with Phil Mickelson’s remarks about the PGA Tour and felt Phil used the LIV Golf Tour as a resistance against the PGA Tour.

Tiger Said, “I don’t know if he has to resolve it or not. You know, he has his opinion on where he sees the game of golf going.”

He further added, “I understand different viewpoints, but I believe in legacies. There’s plenty of money out here. The TOUR is growing. But it’s just like any other sport. It’s like tennis. You have to go out there and earn it. You’ve got to go out there and play for it. We have opportunity to go ahead and do it. It’s just not guaranteed up front.”
