Will Tiger Woods play at the 2022 Genesis Invitational?

Tiger Woods was out of golf for nearly nine months due to a serious injury that he sustained in a car accident in February 2021. Tiger made his comeback on the tour only for one event in December at the 2021 PNC Championship.

Fans are eagerly waiting for Tiger to return to the tour on a full-time basis and once again witness his club twirls. As well as, the atmosphere that he brings to the events.

Well, Tigers fans don’t have to wait anymore as Tiger Woods will make his first appearance of the 2022 season at the Genesis Invitational, which is Woods’s own event as a host. The Genesis Invitational is the seventh event of the 2022 PGA Tour season and will be hosted by Tiger Woods.

Tiger hosts the event every year and his foundation, TGR Foundation, is the primary charitable beneficiary of the event. The event is taking place at the Riviera Country Club, in Los Angeles, California.

However, unfortunately, Tiger’s fans will not see him compete at the event, but Woods will be there at the event as the host. He will hand over the trophy to the winner as well. We can also expect Tiger to be in the commentary box on Sunday, as he joined CBS final round coverages in the previous years as well.

The field at the 2022 Genesis Invitational

Genesis Invitational will take place from February 17 till February 20 this week. The total prize-money purse of the event is a whopping $12 million. The total field for this week’s event is limited to 120 players. The field includes some notable names like Rory McIlroy, Brooks Kopeka as well as Dustin Johnson.
