Tiger Woods admitted that “there will certainly be another chapter” as he announced the end of his 27-year iconic relationship with Nike. His words have left fans wondering what will be his next move and which brand he will wear on the greens next. With Woods in the later stages of his career, there is a possibility that he may go with a well-established brand in footwear and apparel. While there is a possibility that he may start his own brand there is a chance of him joining another apparel brand, Greyson, which is already reported to have signed a deal with his son, Charlie Woods.

The 15-time Major Champion started his partnership with Nike when he was 20 and was reported to be worth around $500m over its lifetime. For golf fans, it would be a surreal feeling to see Woods without the Nike Swoosh. While there will be plenty of brands lining up for his signature, Greyson could be a strong contender to be Woods’ next home.

One of the most intriguing possibilities is that the 48-year-old might join Greyson Clothiers. The apparel brand has been making the rounds in the golf world lately. The brand was founded in 2015 by Ralph Lauren design veteran Charlie Schaefer. It signed Justin Thomas in 2022 to be its official golf ambassador after Ralph Lauren dropped him in 2021. The brand also came into the limelight for allegedly signing an NIL deal with Charlie Woods.

The young prodigy was spotted wearing Greyson at the PNC Championship in December 2023. Greyson Clothiers previously posted a story of Charlie Woods in their apparel, but later took it down due to unknown reasons. The fact that Woods Jr. chose Greyson over Nike raised some eyebrows. Could this be a sign that Woods is also considering a switch to Greyson? After all, Woods is very close to his son and might want to support his decision and join him on the same team. In fact, Matt Powell, one of the most sought-after industry expert voices in footwear, suggests it is a very strong possibility that Woods might move to Greyson Clothiers.

“I’m not suggesting that he [Tiger Woods] would follow [his son], but he might. He might think that’s an important story, to support his son,” Powell said. Moreover, the 82-time PGA Tour winner is also good friends with Justin Thomas. He is one of the main faces of the brand and has been seen wearing their clothes on and off the course and has equity in the company.

Apart from Greyson, there are a few other options for Tiger Woods. Malbon Golf has also emerged as a strong brand and recently signed golfer Jason Day after he ended his partnership with Nike only last week. Interestingly, Woods in his goodbye message to Nike wrote “see you in LA,” Malbon Golf founded in 2017 is based in Los Angeles. Another name that has been linked as Woods’ new apparel sponsor is TaylorMade. In 2016, when Nike stopped making golf equipment, Woods switched to TaylorMade. Although the company does have a limited apparel range, it began advertising jobs for its “new apparel division” last month. Will TaylorMade benefit yet again from the end of a Woods-Nike partnership?

However, with Greyson reportedly having his son signed for a deal, Woods could end up sporting their brand and may even follow the example of tennis icon Roger Federer to earn much more.

In 2018, Roger Federer left Nike after a 24-year-long association. The same year he made some big decisions as he signed with Uniqlo, a Japanese clothing brand. Swoosh reportedly paid him $10 million annually and when the deal expired he left the brand and signed a 10-year deal worth a whopping $300 million with Uniqlo.

The sum he was sure to get from the brand was three times what he was getting from Nike. Then Federer signed an equity deal with footwear brand On Running and became a global ambassador for the Swiss brand. Federer bought a three percent stake in 2019 and two years later when the company went public it was valued at $10 billion, meaning Federer’s share was worth $300 million. Thus after ditching Nike, he racked up two deals worth a combined $600 million plus.

Could Woods follow Federer’s footsteps and join Greyson for much more money? There is a chance he could sign an equity deal to further his income from a potential deal. Only time will tell. Of course, this is all speculation at this point, and Woods has not revealed any details about his plans. He might join Greyson, or he might not choose any brand altogether and go on his own. Till then fans will be eager to see what he wears next.
