Does the 2025 Valero Texas Open have a cut?
The 2025 Valero Texas Open will feature 153 of the best PGA Tour golfers who have opted in for the event. Apart from the names already mentioned, fans will also get to see Ludvig Aberg, Collin Morikawa, Patrick Cantlay, Max Homa, and many other big stars. However, Michael Kim has withdrawn from this list as he prepares for his second visit to Augusta National. Nevertheless, the field is packed with golfers who are all capable of winning the event. With such a diverse range of players, the field will need to be cut down by the weekend.
As per the NBC Sports website, the 2025 Valero Texas Open will have a cut. The 153-player field will be cut down to 65 and tied for the last couple of rounds of the event. That means, some of the favorites might be at risk of missing out on the weekend rounds of the PGA Tour event.

Who can win the Oaks Course tournament?
Two of the best bets to win the Texas event are Akshay Bhatia and Ludvig Aberg. Bhatia comes into the tournament this year as the defending champion. He won the 2024 Valero Texas Open by beating the likes of Rory McIlroy, Hideki Matsuyama, and other top players to win the title. Moreover, Bhatia has also had a great 2025, getting 3 top-10 finishes in the 6 cuts he made. His best performance was certainly in THE PLAYERS Championship where he finished at T3, two strokes off the top of the leaderboard.

On the other hand, Ludvig Aberg has had a splendid year. The Swedish swinger has been in sublime touch in 2025. He has already won the Genesis Invitational this year and finished at T5 in The Sentry. Going into the 2025 Valero Texas Open, Aberg will be eager to get another win to boost his confidence for the Masters Tournament. Other than them, Morikawa is also a strong contender after his recent performances. Matsuyama, Fowler, and Spieth would also provide tough competition to the defending champion.
