Is Charlie Woods the next big thing in golf, or just riding on his dad's coattails?

After eight long years, the USGA has reached the historic Oakland Hills Country Club to stage the 76th US Junior Amateur for the first time. But surely this will not be the last time, as the US Junior Amateur will be visiting the venue over the next 27 years. This season, the Junior Amateur will start on July 22 after qualifying events over 42 sites were completed by June 20.

After that, a field of 264 players got ready to tee up at Oakland Hills CC. These players will go through two days of 18-hole stroke play on July 22nd and 23rd on the North and South Courses, respectively. After the two days, a cut of sorts will be made, which will advance only the top 64 to the match play part of the US Junior Amateur.

What happens if there is a tie? In that case, a hole-by-hole playoff will be made to determine the final field of 64. On the third day of the event, July 24th, the round of 64 golfers of 18 holes will start. Following this, rounds of 32 and 16 golfers will be played on Thursday, July 25th. The US Junior Amateur will then be extended to the quarterfinals and semi-finals on the same day.
