The 2024 PGA Tour season has been full of amazing events, and just when we think it can’t get any better, here comes the PNC Championship. If you’re a golf fan, this one will excite you for all the right reasons. But for many, there’s one thing they’re looking forward to: Tiger Woods returns to the greens.

After what feels like forever, the 15-time major champion is making his return to the course, along with his son Charlie Woods. It’s the first time we’ll see Woods swing since his missed cut at the British Open in July. Team Woods finished T-5 at last year’s PNC Championship, so they’re coming in with plenty of momentum, even if Woods is still recovering from back surgery. Luckily, the family-focused event should be a manageable one for him.

The organizers conduct the PNC Championship at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, a 36-hole event with 20 teams. The format is a Texas Scramble, so both players tee off and then choose the best spot to play from. They keep doing that for every shot, which makes it a fun and fast-paced tournament.

Even though there’s no cut, the competition remains fierce. Woods and Charlie came close to winning in 2021, finishing second to John Daly and his son, John II. But so far, they haven’t grabbed that title. And let’s not forget other big names like Justin Thomas, Vijay Singh, and Bernhard Langer, who’ve all tasted victory in this event.

To play in the PNC Championship, the player must have won a major championship, or, a Players Championship on the PGA Tour. So, who’s in the field this time around?

Who is playing at PNC Championship 2024?

The 2024 PNC Championship looks like one for the books with a mix of seasoned pros and some exciting newcomers. The Woods lead the charge, of course, and joining them will be a familiar cast of golfing legends, including Padraig Harrington, who will team up with his son Paddy, and Fred Couples, who’ll partner with his stepson, Hunter Hannemann.

Plus, you’ve got the likes of Trevor Immelman and his son Jacob, and Steve Stricker alongside his daughter Izzi, all of whom will bring their experience to the event.

This year, though, there’s a bit of a twist with some first-timers in the mix. The World No.1 Nelly Korda, is making her debut, playing alongside her father, Petr. It’s always special when a father-daughter duo takes on the competition, and this one’s sure to grab some attention. Stewart Cink, who’s no stranger to big wins, will team up with his son Connor, while Lee Trevino and his son Daniel will bring their own brand of charisma to the course. Annika Sorenstam, another legend of the game, will play with her son, Will McGee, and Vijay Singh will team up with his son Qass.

The event will also feature other strong duos, like Nick Price and his son Greg, and Mark O’Meara with his son Shaun. Tom Lehman and his son Sean will make their appearance, as will Bernhard Langer and his son Jason, who are back to defend their title. Matt Kuchar and his son Carson are another pair to watch, and of course, David Duval and his son Brady will bring their energy to the mix. On top of that, the dynamic father-son duo of John Daly and John II will be eager to show their skills once again.

The PNC Championship is always a fan favorite, and with a field stacked with legendary names in the mix, it’s easy to see why. The format itself ensures this event is all about fun and family, with a healthy dose of competition thrown in. So are you excited about the PNC Championship 2024? Let us know in the comments!
