Georgia is getting star-studded again. But not at Augusta. The Mitsubishi Electric Classic is teeing off in Duluth, Georgia, this week. A batch of the Tour’s yesteryear’s stars, including defending champion Stephen Ames, will headline the field. But more on that later. Let’s first understand the format of this event.
Like other PGA Tour Champions events, the Mitsubishi Classic 2025 is also a 54-hole event. It will start on Friday with 78 players in the field. Unlike the regular PGA Tour event, the senior tour events don’t have a cut. Which means all 78 players—unless someone is disqualified or withdraws—will be on the field till Sunday.
The senior tour events don’t generally have a cutline because the field is already small for most events. More importantly, the Tour wants to reward the veterans for what they have already accomplished rather than throwing them onto another test.

So, the Mitsubishi Electric Classic won’t have a 36-hole cutline. Which means a greater chance of watching the veterans jousting for a $2M purse. Here is the list of the players in the field and the stars you should watch for.

Who is in and who is out at the Mitsubishi Electric Classic 2025?
Defending champion Stephen Ames returns to the field with hopes of a three-peat. Last year, the Canadian International rallied to a four-stroke victory on his 60th birthday. Ames was the 2023 champion of the event as well, again by four shots. He will join the rare list of veterans who have won an event three times in a row. Last year, Padraig Harrington achieved the feat at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open.
Harrington will be in the Mitsubishi Classic field as well. Aside from them, Mike Weir, last year’s runner-up, and Paul Broadhurst will join as well. All eight past winners of the tournament, including Bernhard Langer, who played his last Masters a few weeks ago, will be in the field. He will be joined by Hall of Famer Ernie Els as well.

Also returning to the field is Angel Cabrera. The Argentine Masters champion teed off at Augusta National earlier this month. He was jailed for 30 months across two countries—Brazil and Argentina—for domestic violence and abuse. The 55-year-old missed the cut at the Masters but won hearts with his heartfelt message to Rory McIlroy.
Also in the field is Davis Love III, returning from his open-heart surgery in January. Vijay Singh, who pulled out of the Masters with an injury, is returning as well. The Friday round will be broadcast on tape delay on the Golf Channel. Saturday and Sunday rounds will be live from 3 PM ET on the Golf Channel.
