Sentry Tournament of Champions 2022 is the first event of the PGA Tour season of 2022. Players, as well as fans, are really excited for the season opener. The professionals will like to capitalize on the season opener and enjoy the beautiful Plantation Course in Kapalua, Hawaii.

The 2022 Sentry Tournament of Champions will start on January 6th and will end on January 9th. The beautiful Plantation Course will be the host to an enthralling tournament which will include players like Phil Mickelson, Collin Morikawa as well as Jon Rahm. The Par 73 golf course will not be that easy to conquer with the conditions soft and greens firm. Wind direction will be very crucial in determining the scoring in a particular round. The total length of the course is 7,596 yards, featuring four par 5s but only three par 3s.

The Sentry TOC is an invitational tournament with all of the past winners invited to participate in the tournament. The field includes all 38 golfers. Moreover, the event will be no 36 hole-cut as has been the case in the past. All the 38 golfers will play 4 rounds without any professional being eliminated. The winner, as a result, will take home $1.476 million. The total pool prize money for the tournament is $8.2 million.

Rory McIlroy is the only player missing the tournament this week.

Sentry Tournament of Champions 2022 Round 1 summary

Round 1 of the 2022 Sentry Tournament of Champions was quite an enthralling one with lots of players shooting an under-par round. Cameron Smith shot a round of 65, 8 under par, and is the leader after round one. Jon Rahm, Daniel Berger, and Patrick Cantlay are tied for the second position with a round of 66, 7 under par.
