Even though Talor Gooch is having a gala time in LIV Golf tournaments, he is struggling at the major events. In February, the USGA completed the necessary steps to qualify for the US Open. From “those players qualifying for the season-ending Tour Championship” to “those players who qualified and were eligible for the season-ending 2022 Tour Championship,” the news is not good for Gooch. He hasn’t been allowed to compete in the Tour Championship since moving to LIV Golf in June of last year, so he is no longer “eligible.”

He had no choice but to go up the rankings and enter the top 60 before the US Open. Gooch believed that winning the PGA Championship would raise his standing, but fate had other things in mind. He got an invitation to play at the PGA Championship in May last month, but he failed to make the cut. He just hit 12 of 28 fairways and 14 of 36 greens, missing the cut by finishing at a total of 10 over par.

Now Gooch is 77th in world rankings. This all means that fans won’t be able to witness Gooch’s magic on the US Open field.

Gooch joined LIV Golf last year, but he never imagined that he would make history there the following year. He quickly rose to the top of LIV Golf standings, thanks to his excellent play. He became the first winner on the Saudi-sponsored circuit to win back-to-back events. The LIV Golf Adelaide Tour was his first victory. Hitting amazing back-to-back 62s, he broke the 36-hole scoring record and went on to win the competition by two strokes. Then, in the competition in Singapore, he defeated Sergio Garcia in a one-hole playoff.

?I know that I?m not going to continue playing this level of golf forever. So you just enjoy it while it comes and try to make it last as long as you can,? Gooch said.
