Does Talor Gooch qualify for the 2023 Open Championship?
Although Talor Gooch has been unable to claim any majors to his name, the professional golfer has been able to win an event on the PGA Tour at the RSM Classic in 2021 along with three wins at LIV Golf this year. He finished T34 in the Masters Tournament while failing to make the cut at the PGA Championship in May. He did not take part in the US Open though.

There is intense competition in order to qualify for the championship. As per the guidelines, any golfer can play till the age of 60 if they have already won The Open. In addition to this, players who have met certain guidelines such as the top 10 at last year’s Open, the top 50 in the Official World Golf Rankings, the top 30 from the 2022 FedEx Cup points list, and the top 30 in the Race to Dubai Rankings of 2022, among others are qualified to play. Gooch was able to make it into the top 30 on the FedEx Cup points list the previous season and this led to him being able to take a shot at the Claret Cup this year.
Gooch’s previous attempts at winning the Open Championship
The 31-year-old first played the event in 2021, where he finished T33 with a par score in the final round settling for a 2-under overall. In the following year, the American pro golfer could only get placed at T34, one below the previous year, settling for a 7-under overall.
