Undoubtedly, one’s parents are always their best support system, and that stands true for Im, who is often spotted at events with his folks. However, recently, the golf pro added the newest supporter to his life. Although he is one of the most private golfers on the PGA Tour, in 2022, he shared the biggest news of his personal life.

On December 17, 2022, Sung Jae Im tied the knot with his wife, whose name—thanks to Im’s private nature—is still not known. The duo never made their relationship public before the wedding, and hence news broke the internet. The couple got married in a private ceremony at the Lotte Hotel World in Seoul.

The wedding, though private, could be taken as a fairytale wedding, as Im shared the beautiful moment when he picked up his bride for the memorable occasion on Instagram. Announcing himself to the world as happily married, the golfer wrote, Thank you again to everyone who congratulated us. I will work harder and live happily in the future. Thank you.”

The Jeju resident didn’t shy away from his love for golf during his marriage celebration either. For the sake of appreciation to his guests, Im gifted a Scotty Cameron Phantom X 9 putter signed by him to all. The gift can certainly be regarded as one of the ‘coolest’ gifts to be received by a golf enthusiast. Moreover, celebrations of his wedding were not just offline.

Fans took to Twitter and Instagram to celebrate with Im, and they weren’t alone. Many PGA Tour pros also congratulated the couple. The likes of Justin Thomas, who also got married in 2022, congratulated him and called him a GOAT while Min Woo Lee and Mark Wier sent him well wishes as well.

After getting married, Sungjae Im, who was usually accompanied by his parents at events, made his first appearances as a married couple. At the 2023 Masters, Im and his wife participated in the Par 3 Family Contest. The golfer shared their first event’s debut photo on Instagram too and wrote, “First Par-3 contest with my wife😉.”

After his marriage, Lady Luck shined brighter on Im’s career. Two months after getting hitched, Im achieved his best finish (T20) at the British Open. Moreover, the 27-year-old soon after that participated in the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games held in September 2023 and found victory there.

Sungjae Im won the silver medal at the golf individual game and the gold medal for team match play, adding his name to the list of PGA Tour pros winning at the Asian Games. The golfer has clearly elevated his career, with his wife beside him.

Does the Im couple have any children?

It has been only a year since the couple got hitched and the couple does not have any children. Arguably, it could be that the couple currently has other priorities in their lives. Except for the 2022 season, Sungjae Im found victory only in 2020. However, with his current position at the Plantation Course, it seems that a win this year is not too farfetched a thought. As for his wife, although her life has been kept out of the public eye, it can be assumed that she is also busy with her professional commitments.

The couple is perhaps much more focused on growing professionally and personally before welcoming a child and growing their family. Undoubtedly, when and if they do, however, the golf world will celebrate with them.
