While keeping an eye on pros like Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, and Phil Mickelson from the Augusta National Field, Sergio Garcia isn’t someone who can be overlooked. The Spaniard won his first green jacket in 2017 against Justin Rose in a playoff. To honor his win further, he named his daughter, who was born 11 months after his win, Azalea, after the par-5 13th hole of Augusta.

After starting a professional career in 1999, Garcia has amassed an impressive array of victories worldwide. After having played in 70 consecutive majors dating back to his rookie year without a victory, Garcia reflected on his 2017 Masters triumph, expressing, “It’s been such a long time coming.” The Spaniard’s perseverance and talent converged on the storied grounds of Augusta National with a total score of 279.

Aside from the recognition the Spanish had in 2017, he also claimed the prize money of $1.98 million for his victory at Augusta National Golf Club. Taking that into account, having achieved more than two top-10 finishes, Garcia has accumulated a total of $3,446,530 in his 24 appearances so far. The 2017 winner has made the cut 15 times and has a scoring average of 73.05.

When it comes to earnings, Rahm has outpaced other Spanish golfers. Throughout his Masters career, Rahm has amassed a total of $5,063,017, massively surpassing Garcia’s earnings. Furthermore, the 44-year-old has participated in 24 tournaments, completing 78 rounds and making 15 cuts. In contrast, Rahm has only competed in 7 tournaments so far and has played all 28 rounds (made all the cuts). Despite this difference in participation, both Spanish golfers remain evenly matched in terms of the number of wins.

There are two Spanish golfers who have surpassed Rahm and Garcia in terms of victories, and they are legendary Seve Ballesteros and Jose Maria Olazabal. Ballesteros clinched two Masters wins in 1980 and 1983, earning $55,000 and $90,000, respectively. Olazabal also secured victories at the Augusta Showdown in 1994 and 1999. So, one could say that Garcia is not the most accomplished Spaniard in the 2024 Masters.
