The LIV Golf will be visiting the happening city of Florida, Miami for the fifth event of its 2024 season. It will be after three weeks that the players will be teeing up at LIV Golf Miami. Among the players’ field, there are 13 LIV Golf pros who are eligible to play in the 88th Masters.
Among them are 3-time Masters winner Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau, Joaquin Niemann, and many others. But will this roster of the PIF-backed league have the name of legendary Spanish player Sergio Garcia? Will El Nino be teeing it up at Augusta National?

In his three-decade-long career, Sergio Garcia has won 11 times on the PGA Tour, has been part of many Ryder Cups, and has won six times with Team Europe. However, when you look at his record in majors, the Spaniard has had only one victory so far. That victory came at the 2017 Masters. Thus, Garcia received a lifelong exemption to play the Masters.
The questions have been answered. Garcia with the 12 others, will be playing at the 88th Masters. This year, the 44-year-old would expect the result of men’s first major to turn out a bit different from last year. In the 2023 Masters, Garcia joined the likes of 2020 U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau and 4-time major champion Rory McIlroy, but not in a good way.
How? Like them, he also missed the cut by shooting a 7 over 151 after two rounds. This was his third missed cut in the past four starts he had made in Augusta National. The one-time Masters’ winner has played the Saturday and Sunday rounds only once in 2022 where he ended up T23 on the leaderboard. As apparent, the course has not been favoring Garcia since his victory in 2017.
Will this streak follow in the 2024 Masters as well? It might not. Recently, Garcia made his intentions clear and showed the world how determined he was to play remarkably well at the 88th Masters. Along with his fellow LIV Golf comrades.
Sergio Garcia gives out a 6-word warning to the golf world
In the 2023 Masters, the LIV pros surprisingly dominated the leaderboard, though did not win (Jon Rahm was still a PGA Tour player). However, when Garcia missed the cut, in the final leaderboard, following Rahm were four LIV defectors; DeChambeau, Patrick Reed, Brooks Koepka, and Lefty. So, when LIV Golf did a little photoshoot with the 13 Masters-bound pros, Sergio Garcia had something to say for this season.

The 44-year-old shared the said picture on his X (formerly Twitter) profile and wrote a six-word warning. Garcia wrote in his caption, “We’re coming for that green jacket @TheMasters.” Well, whether he wears the green jacket again or someone else dons it at Augusta National, Garcia has the utmost confidence that this year’s winner of the Masters will be a LIV Golf player. Although, the post didn’t sit well with many in the golf world.
