Captain Mike Weir vs. Jim Furyk concluded with Team America winning 18.5-11.5. Scottie Scheffler was one of the standout golfers who contributed to his team’s 10th consecutive cup victory. Given his form this year, many might have expected such a performance from him. But now that the Presidents Cup is over, where is Scheffler headed next to grace the greens? Well, it turns out he’ll be resting with his family.
Yes, that’s right. The Sanderson Farms Championship has already shared the list of confirmed players playing at the tournament, and Scheffler’s name isn’t on the list. The tournament commences on October 3rd in Mississippi. Surprisingly, Scheffler hasn’t played at the Sanderson Farms Championship since 2021, where he finished at T37. Scheffler didn’t talk about the reason for not playing but one could assume that #1 needs some time with his wife and son. Interestingly, Xander Schauffele‘s name isn’t on the list either.
Although Scheffler lost his Sunday singles against Hideki Matsuyama at the Presidents Cup, his performance wasn’t bad by any means. On Thursday fourballs, the 2x Masters champion and Russell Henley were matched against Sungjae Im and Tom Kim. The American duo claimed their first-day win. However, Friday’s foursomes went in favor of Team International, as they swept the American squad clean.

Scottie Scheffler played four balls with Collin Morikawa on Saturday and defeated Adam Scott and Taylor Pendrith with a 2-1 score. In the foursomes matches on Saturday, the 28-year-old played with Russell Henley and won his match against Hideki Matsuyama and Sungjae Im. Later, he also talked about his teammates and their performance in the press conference.
What did Scottie Scheffler say about his Presidents Cup teammates?
Winning surely wasn’t a one-man job! Scheffler also believes the same, “I had some great partners this week. Russell and I played great together. Collin and I won a nice match there Saturday morning.” He also talked about how different the feeling was, as they usually play against each other but not together but that is what is so great about the team events. “I think these weeks are a lot of fun. It’s pretty rare we get to play with these guys on my team. Usually every week of the year we’re playing by ourselves. It’s a lot of fun,” said the 28-year-old.
The golfer also appreciated the rookie Russell Henley, who played his first Presidents Cup this year. “I think Russ and I were just both really excited. I think we’re both guys that usually keep a pretty even keel attitude on the golf course most weeks, and I think Russell is one of the most underrated players on our TOUR.”
