The 151st Open Championship is scheduled for this Thursday at Royal Liverpool in Hoylake, England. The 4-day event has several qualifiers that determine the contenders for the 156-player roster. One of these elite golfers who earned an exemption into the event is Scottie Scheffler.
The Phil Mickelson Freshman of the Year winner qualified for the event due to his marvelous accomplishments in the past. There are certain factors that help golfers earn an exemption to the Open Championship, and Scheffler meets at least two of the major criteria. First, he claimed victory at the 2022 Masters Championship. According to the rules, the past 5 winners qualify for the Open. Second, His victory at the 2023 Players Championship makes him a shoo-in along with the winners from the past two years.
Scheffler is also currently ranked as world no. 1 and despite the personal *ahem* mishap at last year’s Open Championship, the star player is in form to compete for the title. All that is left to wonder is if he will play to win. Scheffler’s game is top-notch, especially this season and his fans can’t wait to see him lift the Claret Jug with his name scribbled on it.

Last year at the 150th Open Championship, the Masters Championship winner had a good start and maintained a healthy pace of 4-under par for the first two rounds. However, he was dealing with a personal problem that he shared with a reporter later, according to Golf Digest.
The world no.1 golfer had a pilonidal cyst that made it extremely difficult, not to mention painful, for him to make good shots. Although the segment that he called “Probably TMI” and he explained the situation as “an infection at the top of your butt crack” was a little too much information, it is actually a serious problem that plagues men more than women.
