Not many golfers can claim to win titles alongside Tiger Woods. The 47-year-old icon has left quite big shoes to fill. But not for Rose Zhang. The California-born golfing prodigy took the world by storm when she broke  Woods’ record of number of wins at Stanford. For the longest time, Woods held the honor of claiming 11 wins under the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Then came along Zhang, capping his record and claiming 12 wins at Stanford and two NCAA titles one after the other.

Some say she is the female counterpart of the superstar PGA Tour legend, but we are yet to see if she will play to win the women’s titles at the upcoming championship.

Aside from her golfing prowess, did Rose Zhang qualify for the championship?

After witnessing her dedication and expertise in the sport during her back-to-back title accomplishments at the NCAA, and her recent debut win at the Mizuho Americas Open, there is no doubt in the golfing community that the 20-year-old amateur golfer is ready for higher professional challenges. KPMG Women’s PGA Championship shared a tweet to welcome the exceptional female player into playing her first major as a professional.

Her response brought fans of Zhang much joy when she shared her delight and appreciation on her Instagram profile. Rose Zhang is a force that is just starting to build, and she is ready to take on the challenge. As grateful as she is for the exemption sponsorship into the professional league, she also prepared herself for the qualifiers.

Shortly after making her announcement to go pro, Zhang delivered yet another shockingly stupendous performance at the Mizuho Americas Open.

With the win at Mizohu, Zhang qualified to partake in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and is now awaiting the 22nd of June to own the sponsorship with her unique skillset.

So, is Rose Zhang really playing at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship this year?

Apart from earning sponsor exemption for the prestigious event after her record-breaking wins as a collegiate golfer, her win at the Mizuho Americas Open helped her earn a place in the Baltusrol Lower Course field. According to the major’s official site, one of the qualifying criteria is winning an event on the LPGA Tour in the previous two calendar years and the current year.

All she won was due to her hard work. There is no doubt that Rose Zhang will not only play in the Women’s PGA Championship but she will continue to break records and delight us with her performance. After the mindblowing drives at the Mizohu Americas Open, next on her agenda as per the schedule she shared on Instagram is the KPMG Women’s PGA.

If she makes it through, the US Women’s Open is next on her agenda to conquer.
