He has been giving bold opinions about the LIV Golf tour. But more than anything else, the fans are eager to find out if the golfer is going to play in the upcoming ‘Presidents Cup’. There are rumors that the player might miss the event this year.

Will Rory McIlroy appear in the 2022 Presidents Cup?
McIlroy recently won the PGA Tour Championship after defeating world No. 1, Scottie Scheffler. The golfer became the first one to win the FedEx Cup three times. However, the player will not be appearing in the Presidents Cup this year as the 2023 PGA Tour schedule begins.
Unlike other players like Patrick Cantlay, Justin Thomas, Scottie Scheffler, and Tony Finau, McIlroy is ineligible owing to his nationality. The Northern Irishman cannot be a part of the International Team that comprises of non-European and non-American golfers. However, McIlroy is scheduled to play three events across Europe in the upcoming weeks.
McIlroy took a shot at LIV Golf players
The Irish professional golfer has sounded off several times against the LIV Golf league. And in his recent interview discussing the Ryder Cup Teams, McIlroy took a hit at the rival league’s players. “I have said it once I’ve said it a hundred times, I don’t think any of those guys should be on the Ryder Cup team,” McIlroy said in a press conference.

He even said that the players needed to bond with each other. He stated that he, Donald, and some other players would meet for an evening dinner for team bonding and to discuss how the game could benefit the Europeans.

McIlroy has always been one of the biggest supporters of the PGA Tour. Like most young golfers, it was McIlroy’s dream to be playing on the PGA Tour when he was young. And since the day LIV Golf started to act like a threat to the former tour, McIlroy has been completely against the new Saudi-backed league.
